About the quiz

A quiz about culture, not identity.

Am I Chinese? turns everyday cultural habits into a playful profile. It is designed for curiosity and conversation, never for certifying who belongs.

What the score measures

The Chinese Era Score summarizes self-reported familiarity across food, language, family, festivals, and daily life. Each dimension is weighted equally.

The score describes the answers given in one session. It is not a scientific assessment, cultural ranking, or statement about ancestry, citizenship, ethnicity, or nationality.

How the quiz works

The first version contains 25 questions, with five questions for each cultural dimension. Answers use a hidden four-point familiarity scale. Skipped questions do not count as zero.

A result needs at least 15 answers and one answer from every dimension. This keeps the profile broad while allowing people to skip questions they would rather not answer.

Culture is diverse

Chinese culture is not one fixed list of habits. Region, language, ethnicity, migration, generation, family history, disability, class, and access all shape how culture is lived.

A familiar habit may also appear in many other cultures. The quiz uses patterns as conversation starters, not exclusive ownership claims.

Content review

Questions should be reviewed from multiple regional and overseas Chinese perspectives before a production release. Feedback should focus on accuracy, cultural range, tone, and unintended stereotypes.

The quiz avoids claims about purity, politics, appearance, intelligence, social credit, or whether someone is a real Chinese person.

Your data

Answers and results are processed in your browser. The first version has no account system, database, or server-side answer storage.

Analytics events measure broad product actions such as starting, completing, and sharing. They do not include individual answers, scores, names, or free text.
